2021 Cycle for Shelter

Important Ride Information

We are so excited that you will be part of this year's Cycle for Shelter!

Thank you for helping people facing homelessness rebuild their lives and reach their fullest potential!

We are putting the final touches on this year's event and wish to share some important information with you.

Masks will be Required When not Actively Riding

In order to keep everyone safe and healthy, masks are required for all volunteers as well as riders when not actively riding, even if you are fully vaccinated. We please ask that you carry a mask with you to wear at the rest stops if you are approaching the tables for food and water. If you don't have one, our volunteers will provide you with one.

Masks will also be required at Northern Essex Community College while walking around. They are not required while sitting and eating lunch.

Per Northern Essex Community College's rules, masks are required inside all buildings.

Thank you in advance for your help in keeping everyone safe!

A "Shine" Only Event

Unlike past years, this year we will NOT ride if the forecast calls for severe inclement weather. Right now the forecast calls for sun (yay!), but should that change, we will notify riders of our decision to cancel by 5 a.m. via email and social media (Facebook/Instagram).

If pop-up storms or showers occur while the ride is in progress, we will utilize our route support team to get all riders to safety.

Electronic Health Screening and COVID/Liability Waivers

This year we are adding a health screening as well as a COVID-19 waiver to our usual Cycle for Shelter Liability Waiver and Fundraising Agreement.

The screening and waivers will be EMAILED to all riders on the morning of Saturday, Sept. 18 and the link will only be valid until 7 p.m. that evening. Please fill out and submit the waiver electronically before 7 p.m. on Saturday, September 18. If we don't receive your information, you MUST stop by the registration tables on Sunday morning to fill out these forms. This applies for all cyclists, including those who get their rider number at the packet pick up on Friday.

NO cyclists will be allowed to ride without completing all the required waiver forms.

Packet Pick Up, Friday, Sept 17

For all riders, a packet pick-up party will be held on Friday, Sept. 17 from 4-7 p.m. at Riverside Cycle in Haverhill on Ginty Blvd. We encourage you to stop by and pick up your rider packet and goodie bag, and any last-minute supplies you might need for the ride.

New riders may register at this event and those who have signed up for our virtual ride are also welcome to stop by to grab their rider goodie bags.

Day of Registration and Fundraising Requirement

Please let your friends know that you can sign up to cycle on the day of the event. To ride, you will be required to pay a $100 registration fee and give a credit card guarantee to meet your $250 minimum fundraising requirement. Your card will not be charged until after the October 1 deadline if the minimum has not been fulfilled.

All riders have until October 1 to raise the $250 minimum fundraising requirement per rider, or $400 per family (for officially-registered family teams).

This year's prizes for the top male and female fundraisers are complete bike overhauls generously donated by Riverside Cycle. Right now we have a handful of people vying for the top spots!

Virtual Riders--We'd Love to See You!

We'd love to see our Virtual Riders! All Virtual Riders are welcome to come to the Packet Pick-Up at Riverside on September 17 to pick up your goodie bag.

Virtual Riders are also welcome to join us at the college on Sunday for lunch.

If you are a Virtual Rider and wish to now participate in person, please contact Margot at 978-241-3425 or margot@emmausinc.org. to switch your route.

Post-Ride Lunch

This year our post-ride lunch will look a little different. To help keep all of you safe during the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, we have scaled back our "normal" spread and modified it to a box lunch format. Panera will serve delicious sandwiches and salads, the Emmaus Family House will be contributing its famous rice pudding and yes, we will have chicken from the Chicken Connection!

Additionally, Biggart Ice Cream will be joining us with their slush cart!

Please be advised that the post-ride showers and locker rooms will not be open this year.

We hope that next year, our ride will be back to "normal" and so will our post-ride celebration!

We look forward to seeing you! Please reach out if you have any questions!
