A leap of faith....
I am not rich. My children are not rich. But, they do know where they are sleeping tonight. For too many people who live in my own town-many of them children-this is not the case. I drive past G.A.R. park, I cross over the bridge to Bradford, and I may spare a quick thought for those I see in that park or living under that bridge, but it only has to be a momentary thought. I do not have to hold it. Within moments I am able to occupy myself with the radio, or thinking about whether the drive-through line at Heavenly is short enough to warrant a stop, or whether the trees are budding in the common.
I work hard. But I am also very lucky. And if I’m really honest I know that the distance between the inside of my car and the bridge below is not as far as I’d like to think. The people there are my brothers and sisters. And, as I was taught from an early age, to whom much has been given, more is expected. So, I am going to ride.
I am participating in Cycle for Shelter on Sunday, July 22, 2018. Oh boy…J.
I will be raising critically needed funds to support Emmaus programs that help families and individuals who are homeless rebuild their lives. On any given night, more than 300 adults and children call “Emmaus” home. Located in Haverhill, MA, last year Emmaus programs assisted more than 3,069 different people, including 1,561 children. Emmaus has been recognized in Massachusetts and nationwide as a best-practice model for responding to homelessness.
Cycle for Shelter brings together hundreds of riders and volunteers who care deeply about creating solutions to the tragedy of homelessness. There is nothing wrong in thinking we could-if we wanted to-make homelessness a thing of the past.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my fundraising efforts. I am appreciative of any gift you could make. Please do feel free to forward my page along to anyone you think might want to donate too!
I’ve never done anything like this before. Thank you for taking the leap of faith with me! I appreciate you visiting my Personal Fundraising Page and am very thankful for your generosity.
