Welcome to My Personal Page
Thank you for visiting my Personal Fundraising Page.
Cycle for Shelter has gone virtual like so many events in 2020. I would normally have ridden on July 26 of this year. So Emmaus set the period of July 1 through September 30 to complete the virtual event.
My original plan was to ride with my North Shore Cyclists team members in a social distanced ride on July 22 but a quad muscle injury made this impossible. Having fallen off my bike during the 2018 ride during a raging Nor'easter as I attempted to hop onto a sidewalk on a bridge, I learned the importance of route support. I was assisted by an Emmaus volunteer within minutes of my fall.
I'm a fit person for my age but I am paranoid in our COVID era about potential injuries and trips to a hospital. This is why I have taken my time to choose an appropriate effort for this virtual event.
Therefore, I have decided to ride an approximately 13 mile route twice from my home in the interests of my own safety and to show that I have done this virtual event. I would normally ride 62 miles in this event but I will ride 26 miles this weekend on my fat tire cruiser bike.
Deferring my decision to ride so late in the virtual event window means that I will be playing catch-up in my fundraising for Emmaus. You can see that my first donations were mine and two regular annual supporters. I am hoping to raise at least $1,000. At the end of the fundraising I will match my first donation. I hope that you will read the following and make a donation to the 2020 Emmaus Virtual Cycle for Shelter.
I am raising critically needed funds to support Emmaus programs that help families and individuals who are homeless rebuild their lives. On any given night, more than 300 adults and children call “Emmaus” home. Located in Haverhill, MA, last year Emmaus programs assisted more than 3,069 different people each year, including 1,561 children! Emmaus has been recognized in Massachusetts and nationally as a best-practice model for responding to homelessness.
Cycle for Shelter brings together hundreds of riders and volunteers who care deeply about creating solutions to the tragedy of homelessness. I will be included among this group of local heroes who are striving to make homelessness a thing of the past.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support -- and don't forget to forward this to anyone who you think might want to donate too!
