Welcome to Hillary's Personal Page- update 12/17

I am overhelmed and challenged by you my supporters, and all the local people people who have made financial gifts to Emmaus in such a year as this. A huge THANK YOU to you who have supported my cycling for the homeless of our community again this year. It's very much a TEAM effort!! We have surpassed our goal of 20,000 for the NSC team, thanks so many who donated !! Plus, we expect to see $1500+ more, from the mileage match from a generous anonymous donor--many thanks to their company. Emmaus had 125,000 as their second goal, and it looks like they have just made it over the top to 126,511 !!
Twelve of us did a metric Century (62 miles) on Saturday 8/22 as planned--Thanks to our team of experienced cyclists, members of the photo squad, and especially my dear faithful supporters, listed on the right column, we had a successful ride. That seems like a century ago! Of course I am incapable of simply going out one day in July and riding 60-100 miles, as I did when I was 50. There's lots of training involved, and that with the club has become year round searches for good weather.
We got to enjoy riding, and getting the the word out, that, Emmaus needs our help more than ever. Currently, Emmaus is on the FRONT LINES of the COVID-19 health crisis. Emmaus projects huge losses in its operating budget as the unforseen costs related to this global pandemic continue to rise. In addition, by moving Cycle for Shelter, Emmaus' largest fundraiser, to a VIRTUAL EVENT, Emmaus also faces a huge shortfall in next year's budget as well. We hope you will support my VIRTUAL RIDES, so that Emmaus can continue to care for and serve our community's most-vulnerable members.
I am raising critically needed funds to support Emmaus programs that help families and individuals who are homeless rebuild their lives. On any given night, more than 300 adults and children call “Emmaus” home. Located in Haverhill, MA, last year Emmaus programs assisted more than 2,478 different people each year, including 1,238 children! Emmaus has been recognized in Massachusetts and nationally as a best-practice model for responding to homelessness.
Cycle for Shelter has brought together hundreds of riders and volunteers who care deeply about creating solutions to the tragedy of homelessness. Our teams are practicing social distancing this year. I am included among this group of local heroes who are striving to make homelessness a thing of the past.
Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to make a contribution to my fundraising efforts. Many thanks for your support --any amount you can give is very much appreciated!!! Hillary
