Why Support Cycle for Shelter?

Since 1985 we have served more than 27,000 men, women and children Last year alone we helped 4.085 people—including 2,353  children.  In fact, the average age for a homeless person in Massachusetts is 8 years old.

Our signature event, Cycle for Shelter, is in its 29th year.  Over the last two decades it has raised more than $1.4 million in critically needed support for our many programs.

Support from Cycle for Shelter greatly assists our operating budget in the following ways:

$1,000 provides shelter, meals and support services for a family for one week at the Emmaus Family House.

$500 supplies nutritional meals for 30 people for one week at Mitch's Place, our temporary overnight shelter.

$250  provides homework help and afterschool enrichment activities to a homeless child for one month.

$100 will provide groceries for a family moving into their own apartment.

$50 will provide diapers and formula for a newborn baby.

$30 will keep a homeless adult off the streets and safely sheltered at Mitch’s Place for one night.

We don't use an event management service, so 100 percent of the funds raised through this event go directly to Emmaus programs.
